Have you ever tried filling a pot with an empty pot?
Any success?
If your heart and soul are empty can you fill other's?
We're taught since a very young age to be selfless, to care about others more than we care about ourselves. We're told that being selfish is a bad thing. But is it really so?
Right now, I'm telling you to stop giving so much that you have nothing left for yourself.
You spend your entire life as though others are the be all and end all of life. You overlook your wellbeing to make others happy. You sacrifice your dreams and ambitions to help others achieve their's. In fighting for others rights you forget to fight for your own. You take pains to ensure that others aren't hurt but you forget to protect yourself from the same.
I'm not telling you to stop giving at all. What I am saying is that you shouldn't forget to give yourself. You shouldn't lose yourself in caring for others. Don't deny yourself the things you're striving to give others.
You matter as much as the rest of them. Your wellbeing is as important as their's. Your happiness is as cherished as their's. Your tears, your sorrow deserve to be eradicated as much their's does.
Hon, give yourself the respect you're giving them. Give yourself the love you're giving them. Give yourself leave to be yourself. Fill your pot before pouring into their's because an empty pot pours naught.
