"The greatest cruelty is our casual blindness to the despair of others."
How often have we ignored someone's pain?
How many times have we turned a blind eye to the injustices done to the people?
How many times have you been unjust?
Have you ever been mean without thinking about the consequences?
Have you disregarded the feelings of others?
How many times have you complained about the injustices?
How many times have you been hurt by someone?
How many times have you wished people were kinder?
The truth is, we all want people to be good to us, kind to us but do we care to return the favor?
What we need is empathy. And not just to possess but to use it too. So, what is empathy?
The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy. Imagine what the world would be like if it was widely used!
Imagine a world where people would think twice before hurting others. A world where people were kind, considerate ,compassionate not just to select people but to all. A world where there were no terrorists, rapers, hate spreaders, etc. Imagine a world with peace.
Now, try and be a person of the imagined world. Let us change the imagination to reality, one person at a time.
Empathy and compassion will make our world better.
As humans,we are fallible but the challenge lies in rising above our mistakes and shortcomings. The challenge is to accept our mistakes, apologize and make amends.
Be kind without expecting anything in return. Help as much as you can. You owe it to yourself to do your bit in making the world a better place. Be the person you needed but also be the person they need. Have compassion and empathy in your heart. Many people are suffering deep emotional anguish beneath the surface of their lives, and smile even if they hurt inside. Do your bit about lightening the burdens of others. And do your bit of shedding as well.
In a world that couldn't care less, be someone who couldn't care more.
